Our Story
We built agent ecosystems for clients. Then we built the platform we wished we had.
The founders of Konotree are the team at Anant. For years we sat side-by-side with finance, legal, growth, and operations teams inside small businesses and nonprofits — the kind of organizations that need big-platform power but can’t afford big-platform overhead.
Every engagement started the same way: people already had a favorite AI chat — Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini — and they wanted to keep using it. But they also needed that AI to actually do work: read documents, update spreadsheets, file forms, message the right person, and remember what happened last quarter. Off-the-shelf tools promised the world. They rarely delivered anything predictable.
So we started stitching together agent ecosystems. We wired up document parsers, workflow engines, knowledge stores, chat surfaces, and connectors. The patterns kept repeating. The pain kept repeating. We realized what was missing was not another AI tool — it was a system that gave teams choice without losing control, while making the outcome deterministic.
That system became tekt.
Why tekt
Choice without chaos.
We needed a system where finance could keep its spreadsheets, legal could keep its contracts, and growth could keep its CRM — but every agent could reach the same knowledge, follow the same workflows, and talk through the same protocols. We wanted businesses to keep their current AI chat, but give it the memory, tools, and guardrails to operate reliably.
Tekt separates chat, agents & workflows, routes, and spaces so you can swap one part without rewriting everything. It gives the power we needed as builders and the predictability our clients needed as operators.
Konotree
Konotree is tekt, run for you.
Konotree is the hosted, hardened version of tekt. We run the open-source system, keep the connectors and routes connected, and make sure your spaces stay synced. Our clients get the freedom of open source without the operational burden of becoming an infrastructure team.
The four Konotree products — Formuli, Vido, Kono, and Vorto — are the specialized interfaces teams use every day. Underneath, they all share the same tekt runtime, so data and context move between them without lock-in.
The team
Small company. Open source. Big ideas.
We are a small company, and we like it that way. We stay close to our clients, we ship in the open, and we believe the best AI infrastructure is built as open source first. We also bring the scars and standards of people who have worked on large platforms — we know what production-grade looks like, and we refuse to pretend “move fast and break things” is acceptable when someone’s payroll or contract is on the line.
